Replacing Window Weather Stripping That Is No Longer Made?
The weather seal strips on my 22 year old home are deteriorating and long due for replacing. They are the foam type which slot into a groove all around the window. Unfortunately, after contacting the manufacturer as well as swisco it seems this seal is no longer made and they don’t have a replacement… I’m thinking one of the following two options Replace the strip with a kerf bulb style strip that is as similar as possible in dimensions as the original (https://a.co/d/8S6A18U) Remove the weather stripping entirely and instead use the flat foam style stripping in it’s place (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Frost-King-3-8-in-x-3-16-in-x-10-ft-White-High-Density-Rubber-Foam-Weatherstrip-Tape-R338WH/100139483) If I went this route does it matter wether or not I place the foam strip on the sash where the current strip is or against the frame that the sash rests/slides against?
