Should I use grease or oil in tower fan motor bearings to make it quieter.

I cleaned up a fan to get rid of dust and I want to know if you think I should open the motor housing to add grease to the bearings, or if I should just apply few drops of oil on the shaft and let it drop down into the bearing. I have 3 in 1 oil (multipurpose oil), SAE 5W 20 oil, and automotive grease(red max grease, lithium based thick grease). The fan is a Honeywell quietest tower fan, which I've used for more than 3 years. It still works, but I would prefer it to be a little bit quieter. For the upper axle/shaft of the tower fan blade, I will probably use the thick grease, as the housing it seats in is more of just a plastic space for the axle to spin in, instead of a bearing, or maybe it's a plastic bushing? Here are other people's pictures or videos that seem to match the model of my fan: https://imgur.com/a/honeywell-quietset-fan-disassembled-bFe8gPU https://youtu.be/6egsF01XSjw submitted by /u/11default [link] [comments]
