Snow Peak Announces Opening of Mount Akagi "Land Station" Campsite in 2026
Set for a grand opening in Spring 2026, Snow Peak has been invited by the Gunma Prefecture to develop a new campsite at Mount Akagi Park, a famous summit in Maebishi City surrounded by heavily wooded landscapes. Adding onto the outdoor gear brand's global program of campsites and outdoor events, the Mount Akagi "Land Station" and camping field is one of the Japanese company's most ambitious camping-based initiatives since opening "Land Station Hakuba" in 2020.The sprawling property will accommodate different camping styles depending on the needs of visitors, including open campsites, power-slot sites, pet-friendly sites, and mobile "JYUBAKO" campers. Facilities will house a directly managed Snow Peak boutique stocked with camping gear and a tourism information center staffed by park personnel. Additionally, a cafe, rental meeting rooms, shower rooms, coin lockers, and a multi-purpose plaza will be available for use by visiting campers. The Snow Peak store will sell everything from tents, Snow Peak apparel and local souvenirs and products, while the café plans will collaborate with local businesses to offer curated menus made with native ingredients.Due to the high altitude of the area, visitors will experience cooler than normal temperatures in the summer for a comfortable stay, while in the winter, snowy scenery offers an incomparable view of the wilderness. In an official statement, the brand said "Snow Peak will use the outdoor knowledge it has cultivated to contribute to the promotion and development of tourism in the region, while providing new value to all people who visit Akagi Park."Editor's Note: The images above show 3D renderings of the forthcoming facilities.Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast
