Stacked stone project. Build this out or cut out the middle area?
There is a lot of nice brickwork in our house, but this is the ugliest. We really don’t like the vertical bricks and the bumped out square in the middle to just do a wash, so we are going to flatten the hearth and do a stacked stone. The question is do I build outward with cement board to be level with the bumped out portion, or do I chisel out and fill the bump out to be flush with the rest and just mortar the stone directly to the brick? The glass door is likely staying just need to clean up and replace the part that was cut out along the top edge. submitted by /u/DrapeSack [link] [comments]
