Take an exclusive sneak peek at Critical Role’s new Armory of Heroes artbook

One of the defining aspects of Critical Role fandom has been the quality of its supporting art. The Critical Role team has supported and boosted fan art, with extensive galleries on its official website, and has published plenty of official art, including character portraiture, graphic novels about Vox Machina and Mighty Nein characters, and art prints, alongside other pictorial merch. (There are even coloring books.) The latest project to give people a visual sense of these characters is the Armory of Heroes artbook, which lays out visual details from Critical Role characters’ costumes and arsenals, with histories of how each item was acquired, what it does, and how it works.

The Armory of Heroes, announced by Critical Role on March 26, includes the PCs from the Vox Machina, Mighty Nein, and Ring of Brass arcs of Critical Role, and rundowns of their signature gear, alongside quotes from the characters and text by Martin Cahill, who wrote “Under Golden Boughs,” the story from the Sun Tree’s perspective in the Critical Role short-story anthology Critical Role: Vox Machina — Stories Untold. Below is the publisher’s full description, the book’s cover, and a few initial exclusive art spreads provided exclusively to Polygon, featuring Vox Machina’s Percival de Rolo and two of his accoutrements, Laerryn Coramar-Seelie from The Ring of Brass, and Mollymauk Tealeaf from The Mighty Nein.
