The Biggest Trends From Miami Swim Week 2025: Sheer Cover-Ups, Risqué Bikinis, More

Runways tend to be a place where fashion fantasy runs wild, where clothes' wearability, though still relevant, is not always front and center. It should be no surprise then, that year after year the swimwear catwalks under Miami Swim Week offer their own visions on what bikinis ought to look like. This year's biggest trends leaned into the naked trend that's had a hold on fashion lately.

Miami Swim Week (powered by both Paraiso and By Art Hearts Fashion) is running for a spell of days starting late May through early June, spanning events and runway shows near South Beach. Designers made their cases for a wide range of looks, from strappy bikinis to jewelry-adorned swimsuits.

Megan Thee Stallion also hit the runway to promote her new line. The rapper launched her Hot Girl Summer swimwear brand earlier in May, and she let the fresh collection of 18 pieces get their proper shine in Miami. (Some are perfectly emblazoned with the brand name, taken from her song of the same name that's become her sort of mantra.)

"Everyone knows I love being near a pool or a beach, so I finally decided to turn my passion into a business and create my own swimwear brand," Megan said in a statement when her swim line first came out. "It was only right that we kick off Hot Girl Summer with this launch and provide Hotties of all body types with the official Hot Girl uniform."

Keep scrolling to see the biggest three trends from Miami Swim Week, including which cover-ups are in style, which risqué bikinis are in the spotlight, and more.

Sheer Swimsuit Cover-Ups

It should be no surprise that fashion's reigning sheer trend is keeping a strong hold on beachwear. Based on runways in Miami, it looks like sheer cover-ups will be one of the hot ticket items to rock over swimsuits. See-through dress cover-ups in Miami ranged from embroidered garbs by Oisrí to black mesh numbers by Ettis Swim.

Really Risqué Bikinis

Risqué looks have been all over fashion this headlines, from the most extreme versions (as seen at the 2025 Grammys) to inspiring bans at red carpets like Cannes. Accordingly, many Miami Swim Week bikinis pushed the envelope, edging towards nudity. Salty Mermaid Swim, for example, had models on the catwalk clad in pasties under netted pieces. Hot Girl Summer Swimwear By Megan Thee Stallion, on the other hand, flashed underboob with its cropped swim tops.

Swimsuits With Sleeves

While Miami Swim Week bikinis and beachwear tends to lean a bit more naked, there were some looks this year that stood out for a more fresh take on incorporating sleeves. (It's worth noting that full-coverage swimwear is trending summer 2025.) Some designers went for long sleeve pieces paired with bikini bottoms, like Lemango. Others went with chic asymmetry like Maison Hadascha, proving that sexy swimwear doesn't have to show everything, but can be sensual, too, in its shape.
