Timber Gable - Advice on purchase!
Evening all, first time buyers here! I’ve just had a survey (UK Level 2 RICS) come back for a house we’ve had an offer accepted on, however “Main Walls” have come back as a 3- immediate attention. The main point is a timer gable to the rear of the property which they mention has clearly had little routine maintenance. Equally, there’s a garage below which would make any access for scaffolding more of a challenge. They mention it is essential that the external rain shield of timber is carefully maintained, with any twisted or damaged boards repaired/replaced and redecorated. Anyone have any similar experience of this? Could this be as simple as getting a long ladder and some water seal to apply? Or would this be a full replacement job, and if so, what would a ballpark cost be? Apologies for the potentially super basic question but appreciate all your advice in advance! submitted by /u/thugBungalow [link] [comments]
