Toja kit fit issue, wood trimming suggestions

So I bought a toja pergola kit thinking it’d be easier and it looked good. Bought the 6x6 kit and I didn’t read too much into them as it seemed simple. Well between the 6x6 pressure treated wood being true dimension lumber and some splintering on the ends it doesn’t help the fitting. I screwed up by not trying one before out of curiosity, as I thought it would slide on easily. Maybe some sanding of a quick chisel off. Nope….well now I got it stained/waterproofed wood that doesn’t fit. I have to remove about 1/2” to fit inside the damn brackets. The depth to slide in the brackets is 9”! What’s the best way to remove this much meat on 16 ends? I was thinking plunge router might the best option, do a 1/4” on all sides. Yes I’m kicking my own ass and the wife wants her parking spot back in the garage. TIA submitted by /u/Kitchen_Buyer849 [link] [comments]
