What part should go here? HVAC
When the basement in my house was renovated and walls were installed, the outgoing vent for one of the bedrooms was never completely installed, for reasons I'm not aware of, and I need help finding a part needed to complete the connection to the rest of the house's air system. The vent is installed into a non-load-bearing section of inner wall so that air can flow upwards between the studs and drywall, saving cost on parts and installation time. The problem is that there is no transition from the drywall to the metal vent in the ceiling, so air never leaves the room unless the door is open and circulation in that room is severely reduced. My plan is to install some kind of pyramidal piece on the drywall, and use some small cylindrical pieces to connect the opening and the part of the vents closest to the room. (pictured at the top of the image). There is about 6 inches of space between the door and the vent above, which should be enough to install something small. I've tried searching nearby department stores and online, but no search engines have been able to find the information I need, as I don't know the proper name of whatever part would go here. If anybody knows what kind of part (highlighted in red) would fit this project, please let me know what it is called or where I should try looking. In the image, purple shows where the studs are, blue shows the parts I already have/can find, and red is the part I need to get. submitted by /u/Sch_z [link] [comments]
