"White" Silicone Bathroom Caulk Looks Transluscent. Do I Need a Different Caulk?
We are recaulking our tub with white GE Advance Silicone 2 Caulk, however, it looks translucent when installed (see photos) and shows through to the dark gaps and foam backer rod behind it, making it look gray. We stopped after caulking just the left side and are worried to caulk the rest, especially the right side which has a large gap with dark foam backer rod in it. Questions: Should we use a white, non-bathroom caulk to fill the gap/hide the dark foam backer rod, let it dry, and then go over it with the bathroom caulk? Is there a different caulk we should be using to achieive a solid white look? Or is this just what bathroom caulk is supposed to look like? Any other suggestions? Note the gray appearance of the \"white\" caulk due to it being translucent Here is the large gap, filled with foam backer rod that still needs to be caulked. Here is the tub, with only the left top edge of the tub caulked so far. submitted by /u/brandude87 [link] [comments]
