Wiring a Fan

I am looking to add a wire from my switch to my fan so that the fan can be controlled at the wall switch. I just to make sure my plan was up to code and safe. Currently I have 14/2 wire coming into the switch and 14/3 leaving the switch and going to the light fixture. The 14/2 coming into the switch is the hot and neutral. The hot is pigtailed to go to the light switch and then leave the light switch as one of the 3 wires of the 14/3 wire. Once at the light fixture the hot is pigtailed with other hots that leave that box. The other two wires for the 14/3 going from the light switch to the light are the switched hot from the light switch to the light and the neutral. Could I take the existing 14/3 wire and change it to the switched hot for the fan and light and the corresponding neutral. Then add a 14/2 that would carry the continuous hot and neutral to the light fixture where that hot and neutral would pigtail in with the current hot and neutrals in the box? submitted by /u/Apprehensive_Path_83 [link] [comments]
