Without Sabato de Sarno, Gucci Is Heritage-Driven for Fall/Winter 2025
Amid a transitional moment for the house, without a creative director, Gucci’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection embraced its heritage with a fresh perspective.

All eyes were on Gucci at Milan Fashion Week, unveiling a new chapter for the house as it navigates a transitional period following Sabato De Sarno’s departure. For its Fall/Winter 2025, the collection emerged as a collaborative vision, crafted by the house’s in-house design team—a testament to the brand’s enduring creative spirit in a time of transition.
This season, Gucci looked to its heritage, reaffirming that its signature aesthetic and ethos remain timeless—transcending any single creative director. Drawing inspiration from "sprezzatura"—which essentially translates to the effortless elegance, synonymous with Italian style—the co-ed collection explored an interplay between masculine and feminine aesthetics.
Gucci’s established dichotomy of refined sophistication and experimental innovation is reflected in its carefully curated color palette in the Fall/Winter 2025 collection. Say goodbye to its Ancora red and hello to Gucci green. While timeless shades of grey and brown establish Gucci's reputation of sophistication, green dominated all the way from the runway to the formal show invite to the shirts the Gucci creative team wore to take their final bows in. Pops of purple showcased the house’s adept ability to approach self-expression through experimentation.
Continuing their keen and precise eye for tailoring, menswear-inspired suiting took center stage, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens with textures including tweed, mohair, and wools. This exploration of texture and tailoring extended to womenswear, contrasting more rough fabrics with softer, flowing materials like crepe blouses.
Accessories took center stage in Gucci’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection, paying homage to the house’s iconic Horsebit motif—one of its most revered design signatures. As the Horsebit 1955 bag marks its seventieth anniversary, the motif appeared in fresh iterations across the collection, including the debut of the Gucci Siena Bag, a new slouched bag featuring a half-Horsebit closure. The motif also adorned jewelry, with some fashioned as neckties. The show’s setting reinforced its tribute to heritage, with models striding down a deep green runway adorned with the iconic interlocking G—a nod to founder Guccio Gucci and another one of Gucci's iconic emblems.
