Anchoring Railings to Fiberglass Columns vs Wood Columns (Exterior)

I'm in need of some help when it comes to the type of exterior porch columns I'll be buying. I've looked at HB&G columns, both their Permacast (fiberglass) and wooden. I'm somewhat nervous about purchasing wood because I live in the Northeast of the US and I wouldn't want wood rot to set in, as that's what we're currently dealing with our present columns now. However, if we plan on installing a railing system, I feel the railing would have a hard time anchoring into fiberglass. Wouldn't it weaken over time and the screws fall out? I'm sure if there were a wooden core it'd suffice, but I've yet to a fiberglass column with wood on the inside. I'd appreciate any guidance. Also, not completely set on HB&G if there's a better option out there. Thank you!
