Augustinus Bader's First-Ever Sunscreen Is Here. Meet the $140 Mineral SPF 50

Augustinus Bader has its eyes on product expansion. Wednesday morning, the luxury skincare brand revealed its first-ever sunscreen.

The Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 is made with a healthy roster of skin-boosting ingredients, designed to offer skincare benefits on top of sun protection. Its formula includes the brand's proprietary TCF8 complex, that encourages skin renewal; microalgae extract, to reduce the appearance of fine line; and cotton seed extract that aims to, per the brand's press release, protect the skin from premature aging caused by the sun. The new product, which retails for $140, is available to shop on the brand's website in a 30-milliliter bottle.

The new Augustinus Bader sunscreen—which relies on non-nano zinc oxide and titanium dioxide as UV ray filters—is meant to be the last step of any given skincare routine. After applying at least a serum and moisturizer, then the Augustinus Bader Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 goes on. As is recommended for any sun-protection product, apply a generous amount 15 minutes before sun exposure.

Some skincare enthusiasts may prefer mineral to chemical sunscreens as they as it can be better for sensitive and acne-prone skin. However, it's important to note that mineral sunscreens notoriously and, almost, unavoidably leave behind some sort of white cast (unless the formula is tinted). Augustinus Bader's remnants are minimal.

The eponymous brand, which launched in 2018 and is founded by Augustinus Bader MD, PhD (who goes by "Professor"), has kept busy with new product launches since 2025 kicked off. In February, for example, it debuted a sheet mask and hair brush collaboration with La Bonne Brosse. With the release of its first-ever sunscreen, Augustinus Bader continues to expand its luxury skincare offerings.
