'Avatar' Sequel 'Seven Havens' Has Been Greenlit at Nickelodeon

The world of Avatar: The Last Airbender is expanding at Nickelodeon. A new sequel has been greenlit at the studio, making way for the follow-up animated series Avatar: Seven Havens. The series is expected to feature 26 half-hour episodes across two seasons. The news arrives as Last Airbender readies its 20th anniversary celebrations since the original show aired on February 21, 2005.The sequel is under the Avatar Studios banner from Nickelodeon Animation and is currently in production. Avatar creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are set to helm Seven Havens and is set after the events of Legend of Korra. As per the official logline, the series will pinpoint events that occur in "world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. A young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra – but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse."In a statement, DiMartino and Konietzko shared, "When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters. Get ready to take another epic and emotional adventure!"
