Basement sound reduction
Hey friends, I'm sure this has been discussed countless times, but here I am, living in my basement while renting out my main floor. The tenants up there really aren't loud, but the house also has no sound barrier between the levels so even foot steps and voices come through I have drop ceilings, so I can access the floor joists and I was thinking of attaching the SONOpan sound proofing panels to the bottom of the floor boards and then filling the space between the joists with safe n sound. I know that total sound proofing is nearly impossible without some major work, but I'm wondering if anyone has done some minor work like I'm thinking - what were the results like? I know the SONOpan panels are meant to go across joists, but I just don't have the space between the ceiling grid and the joists Also is there really a difference between 'safe n sound' and standard rockwool? I feel like it's the same https://www.homedepot.ca/product/sonopan-soundproofing-panels-4-ft-x-8-ft-x-3-4-in/1000441119 submitted by /u/GiGi441 [link] [comments]
