Cartier Reveals Its 'En Équilibre' High Jewelry Collection In

Cartier unveiled its latest high jewelry collection, “En Équilibre,” in Stockholm on Monday.

Through the new items, the French jewelry house sought to explore themes of harmony and simplicity through each of the 115 pieces included in the collection. This led to the luxury brand incorporating geometric patterns, openwork, and wildlife motifs. Two animals enmeshed with Cartier’s iconography, the panther and the peacock, make appearances in two “En Équilibre" necklaces, drawing out the tension between nature and man-made design.

There are also clear sartorial inspirations embedded within the new high jewelry items. The Tateya ring, for example, is topped with a curved row of diamonds and a 6.98-carat cabochon-cut ruby reminiscent of a kimono’s obi knot. Rubies, onyx, emeralds, and diamonds are featured in most of the pieces, infusing the collection with brilliance and vibrant color.

This push-and-pull feeling permeates throughout the designs in “En Equilibre;” rounded cabochon gemstones are often placed alongside faceted stones to evoke a sense of movement. Potential energy lives within the photography style, too. Each jewelry piece is held by two white strings, hovering in space.

"The paradox of sophisticated simplicity is to create a clear and obvious line through its sobriety. It is the art of looking at things differently, but it is also the art of creating the right balance. It is the art of equilibrium, engraved at the heart of our creative approach, that reveals Cartier’s sense of harmony," Director of High Jewelry Jacqueline Karachi said in a statement.
