Chanel Goes Boho With Massive Pearls and Ruffled, Sheer Dresses for Fall/Winter 2025

Like many others in fashion, Chanel is getting into its boho era.

The French fashion label revealed its latest collection at Paris Fashion Week that mixed the familiar with something fresh. Plenty of looks on the Fall/Winter 2025 runway were quintessentially Chanel through their tweeds, bow adornments, pearly touches, camellia detailing, and accessories, like the classic Flap Bag, showcased in mini and mega sizes alike. But the new collection, designed by the maison's in-house studio team, also leaned into a boho vibe.

The show opened with Vittoria Ceretti prancing down the winding runway in a black tweed, double-breasted mini dress, and one element stood out in particular: the long and flow-y tulle skirt that felt very boho-chic. Throughout the opening looks, the bounciness of the sheer fabric starkly contrasted with the sharp structure of the tweed, creating a version of the bohemian look that is effortlessly Chanel. As the show continued, looks got slouchier, as models in frocks, including diaphanous dresses, layered with ruffles and oversized sweater dresses made their way down the runway.

In accessories, Chanel played with the size and scale of its classic bags and pearls, bringing some of the most oversized pearl necklaces one could imagine down the runway. The large pearls were draped over models in a crossbody fashion, while some even carried purses that were simply a singular (and huge) pearl. The Fall/Winter 2025 show pushed the boundaries on what the size of a Chanel purse can be. One blink might have meant missing the sight of the tiniest Chanel bag clutched by Mona Tougaard in the final look of the show. Others on the runway were very oversized.

As one of the biggest shows during Paris Fashion Week, it's only right that fashion's favorite celebrities sat front row. A tweed miniskirt-clad Tyla, for example sat next to Anna Wintour (who famously loves Chanel). This show marks a big moment for the brand, which is changing creative director hands. Matthieu Blazy, announced the new leader in December 2024, is preparing to start his new role, with his first Chanel collection to come for Fall/Winter 2025.
