Colman Domingo Does An Impromptu, Yet Sharp Outfit Change at the 2025 Met Gala
The one of four Met Gala co-chairs arrived with a trick up his sleeve.

As soon as the 2025 Met Gala red carpet started, a swell of energy came over New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art, despite even a downpour. Colman Domingo arrived alongside Lewis Hamilton and Anna Wintour, as some of the first to step out, and the actor came with a sartorial trick up his sleeve.
The Sing Sing actor and co-chair of Monday night's event stepped onto the floral, cerulean carpet donning a grandeur cobalt cape with eye-catching gold detailing by Valentino. His cape pays homage to similar pieces worn by the late Andre Leon Talley. Domingo’s grey slacks peeked out from underneath the cape, convincing onlookers that it was his one and only look. But clearly we were wrong.
Domingo soon took off the cape to reveal a whole new look entirely, one that even further epitomized the Black dandy. Underneath the first look was a precisely tailored black-and-white patterned blazer paired with the aforementioned trousers. He continued the black-and-white trend by accessorizing with a polka-dot neck scarf and a pinstripe dress shirt. His jewelry? All Boucheron.
Domingo’s commitment to this year’s “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme comes as no surprise. The Academy Award-nominated actor has swiftly become one of Hollywood’s most snappiest male celebrities, wearing looks by Versace, Willy Chavarria, and more. He’s also been key in redefining the constraints of menswear, by adding a flirtation with androgyny and embracing feminine accents. Based on these looks alone, it’s fair to say we can add these outfits to his flourishing fashion legacy.
