Three more teams have been eliminated in the BLAST.tv Austin Major as the first stage of the nears its conclusion.

Complexity, Imperial Esports and Chinggis Warriors are out of the tournament after failing to win three matches over the course of five rounds, ending their campaigns with a 1-3 record.

While three teams are now out of the Major, three others have qualified for Stage 2. OG Esports, BetBoom and Nemiga have booked a place in the next stage following wins over NRG, Wildcard and FlyQuest, respectively.

Complexity, Imperial Esports, Chinggis Warriors Miss Out

Complexity began its Major on the back foot, having to recruit Paytyn ‘junior’ Johnson as a stand-in for Håkon ‘hallzerk’ Fjærli after the player was unable to obtain a visa before the deadline. The North American organisation kicked things off with a defeat to OG Esports on Ancient, but managed to bounce back with a win against Fluxo on Inferno.

After losing Round 3’s all-American battle against NRG on Inferno, Complexity recorded a 2-0 loss to TYLOO, eliminating the team from its home Major.

Elsewhere, the Brazilian side of Imperial Esports became the fourth team to be knocked out of the Major. Early defeats to B8 and Nemiga Gaming left the team requiring a win on June 4th to remain in the tournament.

A 2-0 sweep of Metizport gave Imperial another chance of making it to Stage 2, but a 2-1 loss at the hands of Legacy has brought the team’s Major journey to an end.

Chinese organisation Chinggis Warriors‘ Major journey also came to an end following a hard-fought best-of-three battle against fellow Chinese team Lynn Vision Gaming in Round 4.

The Warriors were defeated by HEROIC and Legacy, putting the team on the back foot with a 0-2 record early on in the event. A win over Fluxo kept the team in contention, but it was unable to overcome Lynn Vision Gaming to qualify for round five.

OG Esports, BetBoom, Nemiga Advance to Stage 2

With three teams eliminated, another three teams have simultaneously booked a spot in the second stage of the Major.

OG Esports continued to build momentum following its Round 3 win against TYLOO to secure a 2-0 win against NRG in Round 4 to record its third victory of the tournament.

Following its round two defeat to FlyQuest, BetBoom Team hit a purple patch with a victory over Legacy and an overtime 2-0 series win against Wildcard to earn a place in Stage 2.

The third team to advance into Stage 2 from Round 4 is Nemiga Gaming, which began its Major campaign with a loss to BetBoom.

Since the defeat in the opening round, it defeated Imperial Esports, Lynn Vision Gaming, and swept aside FlyQuest 2-0 to score a 3-1 record and a place in the next stage.

BLAST Austin Major Stage 1 Round 5 Details

With the fourth round of Stage 1 now concluded, attention turns to the fifth and final round of the stage.

The six teams with a 2-2 record will play one best-of-three series to determine the three remaining teams that will qualify for Stage 2. The teams that lose the series are eliminated from the Major.

The teams still in with a chance of qualifying for the three remaining places are NRG, Wildcard, FlyQuest, Legacy, TYLOO and Lynn Vision Gaming.
