During Sony's State of Play 2025 stream, stylish fast-action game Lost Soul Aside got a new gameplay and story trailer alongside a release date announcement. Lost Soul Aside will launch on May 30, 2025 for PlayStation 5 and PC.
It was initially started as a solo project from developer Yang Bing with limited resources and had been showcased as part of PlayStation's China Hero Project to help support Chinese game development. Lost Soul Aside clearly channels inspirations from Devil May Cry and PlatinumGames-style action games, as well as Final Fantasy XV, which the developer has been upfront about.
There are a few extra details in the official PlayStation Blog post; the main character Kesar wields a shape-shifting weapon you can swap between, which changes your playstyle, and you have a dragon-like companion named Arena who can summon abilities to support Kesar. Like its inspirations, Lost Soul Aside emphasizes aerial dodging, precision timing, combos, and countering along with large-scale boss fights. The game blends its sci-fi premise with a variety of contemporary aesthetics that fit into a campaign that takes you across multiple dimensions. Although it's tough to glean where the story is going based on its trailers, Bing describes Kesar's journey as one of "redemption and discovery."
Preorders for Lost Soul Aside go live on February 19 at 7am PST / 10am EST for PS5 on the PlayStation Store and 11am EST / 8am PST for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. There's a digital deluxe edition that includes the digital soundtrack and artbook, the Golden Blaze skin for Kesar's companion Arena, and in-game items like weapon cosmetics, a health booster, and an XP booster.
