Dishwasher not draining - not the filter! What could it be?

Thank you in advance for your advice! Our dishwasher randomly stopped draining the water after a cycle. Dishwasher has been working fine for years otherwise. The pump DOES work - if I start another cycle for a sec and then cancel it immediately, the cancel cycle runs and the pump runs and empties some of the water. Doing this 3x drains the full tub after a regular wash cycle When I tricked the pump into running via cancelling a cycle, I can see the water moving in the drain tube under the sink and I can see it draining into the disposal so that would indicate to me that it's NOT a blockage from either a kink in the pipe or filter being clogged. Just to confirm, I also ran a rinse-only cycle with nothing in there and the filters removed. Water still did not drain so I'm pretty confident it's not a clogged filter or kink/blockage in the pipe. It seems like whatever triggers the pump to operate at the end of a cycle isn't triggering, and/or some sort of switch that tells the pump to keep pumping because water is still in there, that switch is broken. Are either of those things a possibility? What part would need replacement? Any other ideas for things to try? Thank you! All the other advice on the internet/this sub just points to a clogged filter and I'm pretty confident that isn't what's going on here! submitted by /u/Draymond_Purple [link] [comments]
