The 2025 BET Awards, held Monday night in Los Angeles, once again reminded us why it remains one of the most celebrated award shows in the entertainment industry. “There are ruthless attacks that are creating fear and chaos in our communities in the name of law and order,” she said, condemning President Trump and the military’s violent response to peaceful protestors. Her call to action was a reminder that the BET stage has been a place where talent is welcome to share not only their gratitude, but also their thoughts and allyship with the viewers watching at home.

Since its inception in 2001, the BET Awards have honored the achievements of Black creatives and culture makers across music, film, television, sports, and philanthropy, highlighting not just talent but also impact.
