The Esports World Cup has shared crucial details surrounding its Street Fighter 6 last-chance qualifier.
Open to all players, the event takes place from August 14th to 16th, 2025, at Boulevard City in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Sign-ups for the last-chance qualifier for the Street Fighter 6 tournament open on June 13th, with up to 512 players able to compete for a chance to earn a place at the main event.
Players competing in the last-chance qualifier have an opportunity to earn a share of a $50,000 (~£36,817) prize pool. The top ten players from the last-chance qualifier will join 38 other players competing at the event running from August 20th to 23rd.
So far, 30 of the 48 players competing at the event have been confirmed through results from the SFL World Championship, Capcom Cup 11 and Combo Breaker tournaments.
Ahead of the event, North American player Christopher ‘ChrisCCH’ Hancock withdrew from competing at the Esports World Cup after securing a place through the SFL World Championship while representing FlyQuest. As a result, former EVO champion Keita ‘Fuudo’ Ai has taken his place.
FGC At Esports World Cup
The Fighting Game Community (FGC) will have a strong presence at this year’s Esports World Cup, with tournaments across several titles taking place.
In addition to Street Fighter 6, the event will also host competitions in TEKKEN 8 and FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves. The latter is the latest release from game developer SNK Corporation and is the first instalment of the FATAL FURY franchise in 26 years.
Elsewhere, fighting games will also have a presence outside of the Esports World Cup’s main slate of tournaments. The Mid-Season Championship for Naraka: Bladepoint will take place as part of the Esports World Cup Festival, a gaming and lifestyle festival that runs alongside the Esports World Cup.
