Well-known Korean organisation Gen.G has announced its official entry into Marvel Rivals esports, armed with a roster of professional players.
The team is mostly comprised of former members of Uprise, a team that previously beat a Gen.G Academy team in the Season 1 Championships in the Asia PC division.
In the announcement on social media today (May 15th), Gen.G wrote: “Welcoming the newest heroes to the Gen.G family — our Marvel Rivals team is here!”
Here are all seven members of Gen.G’s newest Marvel Rivals roster:
- Choi ‘Brownie‘ Mingi, Duelist
- Sin ‘CHOPPA‘ Jae-hyeon, Vanguard
- ‘Dotori‘, Strategist
- Jung ‘FUNFUN‘ SeungHyun, Vanguard
- Bae ‘KAIDIA‘ Jung-hyun, Duelist
- ‘Snake‘, Strategist
- Jung ‘Xzi‘ Ki-hyo, Duelist
This isn’t technically Gen.G’s first venture into Marvel Rivals, as it tested the waters for a potential team back in Season 1: Eternal Night Falls with an academy roster. Only four of that original roster have remained, as the rest are replaced by members of the winning team called Uprise – mainly FUNFUN, CHOPPA, and Brownie.
We can expect this team compete in the upcoming Marvel Rivals Championships for Season 2: Hellfire Gala, and the Stage 1 Open Qualifiers for Ignite, both of which have open invitations.
It’s an overall very strong team, with members who earned top placements in the Marvel Rivals esports scene. However, the meta has changed drastically since Season 1, and it will be interesting to see how this team fares against a much stronger and more experienced competition.
Gen.G is a Big Player in the Marvel Rivals Ecosystem
Gen.G is a well-known esports organisation with teams in VALORANT, and Counter-Strike. Gen.G has seen great success across various titles, particularly in League of Legends, where it came first in LCK Spring 2024 and in the 2024 Midseason Invitational.
Only time will tell if the Marvel Rivals team will achieve similar accomplishments, and if the scene proves successful enough for the organisation to continue competing.
