Get your rampage on with this Morrowind dismemberment mod
For as long as video gaming has been a thing, people have craved a dose of digital violence. Even retro, high-fantasy games like Morrowind aren't immune to the allure of on-screen savagery and the thrill of ending an NPC's life, even if it is tame compared to other titles. But if you really want to get your blood thirst on in the third Elder Scrolls game, you might want to check out "Tis But a Scratch," created by Nexus Mods user CarlZee. Aside from the obvious Quest for the Holy Grail quote (gamers and Monty Python evidently go well together), this mod allows you to really go on a rampage in Morrowind. Image via CarlZee/Nexus Mods It essentially gives you the ability to dismember characters in the game, though it should be said that it specifically mentions "on death," which sort of implies that you can't just lop an arm off of an unsuspecting citizen who's going about their day in Balmora. You have to actually kill them first - dur According to the description on the download page, CarlZee said Morrowind – or at least the vanilla release – is "a pretty tame game in terms of blood and violence." The result is a gorier mod in which the creator says takes cues from the likes of Fallout. You can see how it works in this short gif, which shows the player going hell for leather on a bunch of characters, hacking away at appendages the way I flail my arms about when a wasp is nearby. I also like that the creator says dismemberment only works on NPCs "for now." Some of the features of "Tis But a Scratch" include the ability to set the minimum damage. It supports the hacking off of the head, left and right arm, and both legs (because "body replacers usually combine leg parts"). Sadly, only severed heads are actually shown on the floor, but it looks like we'll get updates to rectify that at some point. Hooray.
