Giannis Antetokounmpo Teases His Nike Giannis Freak 7
The 2024-25 NBA MVP Race may be centered around Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokić, but Giannis Antetokounmpo remains one of the world's best players. The Milwaukee Bucks superstar is averaging over 30 points per game and has kept his team in the mix for home-court advantage in next month's playoffs. After leading his team to a win over the Los Angeles Lakers, Antetokounmpo took to Instagram to preview his next signature shoe with Nike.Presumably named the Nike Giannis Freak 7, the new sneaker was highlighted in three different colorways. Taking on a new shape that differs greatly from the line's predecessors, the Giannis Freak 7 begins with a wavy texture at its midsole and carries this pattern across a portion of each side of the upper. He's opted to bring back reversed Swooshes, prominently placing them on each side of the sneaker. A two-piece outsole features an "Antetokounmpo" callout towards the lateral while his "GA" logo hits the tongue. Pictured first is a black and orange rendition that carries pink Swooshes. Another look features an all-yellow composition while a mock-up of the third "Wolf in Sheep's Clothing" seems to pair gray with "Volt" accents. At the time of writing, neither Giannis Antetokounmpo nor Nike Basketball have indicated when the Nike Giannis Freak 7 will be making its retail debut. Based on the August release date of its predecessor, it will likely be several more months until this new model is available to the public. Based on the deck slide shown off in Antetokounmpo's Instagram post embedded below, it looks like it will be arriving at a $110 USD starting price via Nike SNKRS and select retailers.
