Got a spare $100 to buy GTA 6? You might need it

We're all probably getting a bit tired of hearing it, but it's worth repeating: GTA 6 will, undoubtedly, be the biggest release in recent gaming history. Rockstar is going to be sparing no expense to deliver one of the most hyped installments in its lucrative franchise. Naturally, the studio is going to want to recoup all that money poured into the project, and it's possible the game will set you back a handsome sum. As noted by several sources (such as VGC), GTA 6 could cost as much as $100 to purchase upon release. This is according to Wedbush Securities, a financial services company based in LA. https://youtu.be/QdBZY2fkU-0 In a research note distributed this week, Michael Pachter, managing director of equity research for the company, says the firm believes "the company has plans to sell the game at a previously unheard of price point." It could be more! The note from Pachter goes on to say Rockstar could incentivize players to pay that much for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto title by "rewarding them with a large amount of in-game currency to be spent in GTA Online." Whether this would be for the standard game or a special edition remains to be seen at this stage, but it could set a precedent for other huge publishers to do something similar going forward. Of course, this is only speculation, but there's no doubt that some of you reading will not be too shocked if Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two Interactive do slap a $100 price tag on GTA 6. They know people will pay it, whether incentivized to do so or not. Gaming is already pretty expensive these days, with many triple-AAA releases selling for $70 a pop as standard. With Grand Theft Auto being one of the most profitable franchises in the industry, the price being in triple figures might not even be that much of a surprise; it could well be expected. But again, at the time of writing, nothing's been confirmed about how much it will cost. The post Got a spare $100 to buy GTA 6? You might need it appeared first on Destructoid.
