Help: installing brick wall interior. Thinset splotches on brick face not coming off

I'm doing a brick half wall around the perimeter of my study Using thinset mortar to apply the bricks directly to the drywall. It's coming along well but the issue is some of the bricks have splotches of thinset mortar I missed cleaning off when installing. It's very hard to get off. It's only been 24 hours so I know clock is ticking until full cure. I soaked in vinegar and tried a hard bristle brush to not much avail I believe muriatic acid is used for exterior jobs but it's interior and I'd rather avoid harsh chemicals if possible Any advice appreciated submitted by /u/Icebox253 [link] [comments]
