How can I build a frame around this metal pillar to conceal it?
So my garage has this metal pillar that supports another beam. I will be cleaning up this room by framing up a wall where that plastic sheet it. We will also be installing duct work along the ceiling beam, and will build a plywood soffit around that, hiding the duct and the ceiling beam. However, I’m not sure how to go about hiding the closest pillar (the other one won’t matter). I want to encase it in a square structure, but don’t really know how. Can I just make a long plywood box? Do I need 2x4s for this? Do I need to secure it to the drywall, or to the concrete? I have no clue whats the best way to go about this. Any advice appreciated! submitted by /u/scun1995 [link] [comments]
