How can I create separation for my downstairs living area?
Hey folks! I could really use some advice. My downstairs living area has an open layout, and there’s no interior door between the hallway and the main space. The hallway runs from the front door, over a landing (which leads upstairs), past the laundry/closet, and into the main living area. I'd love to add some kind of separation — a door, sliding partition, or something that blends well with the space. The problem is, there’s no existing door frame or overhead beam, so I’m not sure what my best options are. I want something that offers privacy and helps with sound separation (though it doesn’t need to be soundproof). This space is important because it serves as my home office, a 2nd family room, wet bar, and a guest area (there’s a full bathroom attached). I’m looking for ideas that are functional, aesthetically pleasing, and budget-friendly. I don’t love the look of heavy curtains and am hoping for something that feels more polished.
