How to find Bloodwood Sap in RuneScape: Dragonwilds
Obtaining the Challenge Horn is, well, a real challenge — no pun intended. You'll have to battle through Ashenfall's most dangerous zones to gather three rare materials. The hardest is the Bloodwood Sap, hidden in the region's most brutal area. Here's how to find it in RuneScape: Dragonwilds. Where to find Bloodwood Sap in RS: Dragonwilds The Bloodwood Sap can be found in the castle of Bloodblight Swamp, located east of the starter Bramblemead Valley. There are two major threats you'll need to deal with in this area: the group of high-level enemies stationed around the fortress and the poisonous air that slowly drains your health. My RuneScape: Dragonwilds character is still carrying the scars from the ordeal, and that's not surprising, considering I died five times just trying to reach the Bloodwood Sap. Screenshot by Destructoid Before heading out, you must bring an Iron Logging Axe and several Anti-Poison Potions. The Iron Logging Axe allows you to hit the Bloodwood Sap off the large tree at the castle. However, you'll need to harvest a hefty amount of iron ore from the Stormtouched Highlands, a perilous destination where deadly lightning strikes appear frequently. The Anti-Poison Potion will, fortunately, be relatively more straightforward to craft, as most ingredients derive from the Whispering Swamp. If you need more help with the poisonous air, check out our guide on how to survive the Bloodblight Swamp. You should also take your best weapons with you, whether they're iron or bronze-based. A bow is a solid choice for this journey, especially with a few enemies lurking just out of reach. Beyond weapons, I highly recommend bringing Lodestone ingredients. Setting up a fast travel point would've saved me hours of unnecessary trekking, so you can avoid the same mistake. While you can place the Lodestone in various spots, setting it near the Bloodblight Swamp castle offers the fastest access to key locations. With all this gear, it's time to take the leap and head to the fortress. Consume the Anti-Poison Potion just before you enter the swamp, and you'll have 300 seconds until the poison starts kicking in. Keep an eye on the potion's buff; it'll sometimes deplete when you least expect it. When you reach the castle, it's crucial to eliminate all enemies inside. Given that the Bloodwood Sap is right at the center of this area, foes will most likely notice you, even if you try to use stealth. Screenshot by Destructoid The strategy that worked best for me was circling around the castle before sprinting across the main bridge. Each time I crossed, the enemies tended to retreat to their original positions, creating the perfect opportunity to strike with their backs turned. If you can, try to separate them and take them down one at a time, as facing the entire group together can be seriously overwhelming. With everyone out of the way, you can finally head to the tree and use your Iron Logging Axe to acquire the sap. Screenshot by Destructoid You only need one Bloodwood Sap for the Challenge Horn recipe. Nevertheless, you still need to get the Dragon Tooth and Bronze Bars to complete it. Once you do, you can set a course for the ultimate battle against General Velgar, diving further into the RuneScape: Dragonwilds' Primary Quest.
