How to open the Fire Door in Doom The Dark Ages Chapter 2
Chapter 2 of Doom The Dark Ages introduces you to Hebeth, and there's an intriguing secret hidden behind the Flaming Door, which is a tough puzzle to crack. The flame-engulfed doorway can be found towards the end of Hebeth, and it's an easy one to miss. The doors are always on flames, which have to be turned off to discover the secret, and contribute towards getting 100% progress on the mission. How to solve the Fire Door puzzle in Doom The Dark Ages It's very hard to miss the flaming doors due to their appearance. To solve the puzzle, look to the door that's opposite of the puzzle. Screenshot by Destructoid This door will be locked, but you'll find a metal lock to its right. You'll need to use your Shield Saw to break the lock. This will open the locked door but that's downstairs. Once you break the lock, just jump through it. Vault into the room (through the gap left by the broken superheat lock) and get inside. Hop down to the lower level, and collect all the pickups. You'll find a hole in the wall next to the door. Go in through the hole. Screenshot by Destructoid You'll come across a valve that has to be turned all the way to extinguish the flames. Get close to the valve, and you'll get the option to interact with it. After turning the valve all the way, Shield Charge through the door, and approach the Fire Door. The door will no longer have the flames, allowing you to move inside. Is Solving the Fire Door puzzle worth it? If you're concentrating solely on the main quests and don't care about the side content, you can avoid this puzzle. The room offers you 9x Gold pickups, that are helpful for upgrading your weapons and Shield. You'll also encounter a Hell Knight at this location, and defeating him will open a path to getting a Life Sigil. The rewards could have been better, but it's still a cool secret mission to complete.
