How to remove plastic covering from kitchen cabinets and paint
I am planning to remove the plastic covering from my MDF kitchen cabinets and paint them. I have found instructions to use a heat gun or hair dryer to help peel the covering off the front of the cabinet doors but I don't know what to do about the backs of the doors or the frame. Does that part peel off too? If not, do I just sand it and paint it or will that lead to a bad finish or possibly paint peeling off? From what I can tell, painting over plastic is a bad idea. I have oil-based primer for the MDF and semi-gloss paint for the top coat. My plan was to prime twice, lightly sand, then do two coats of paint. I have a paint sprayer for this. If the backs of the doors and the frame are still coated in plastic though, I feel like I would need to treat them differently to paint them and have it look good and last. I'm not sure how though. submitted by /u/Odd_Cup_4363 [link] [comments]
