Most of the relationship building is simply common sense, and trying to appeal to each character’s likes and dislikes. There are a lot of dialogue choices that you’ll encounter along the way with the girls, and you’ll instinctively get a feel for what they want to hear.

At times when you can interact with them individually, like in the park when you’re looking for Autumn’s keys or after you’ve found your way into the cabin in the woods, it’s a good idea to help your favorite character first.

All of these interactions build your relationship with each girl, but four key moments will help you on your way to romance.

Nora is the group's rockstar, and she has the most edgy aesthetic. She’s into music, hates her Step Mom, and has big aspirations. Growing closer to her is easily done by leaning into her tastes, boosting her ego, and supporting her decisions.

Moment 1: The First Night

While in the park searching for Autumn’s keys, you’ll find Nora over by the large puddle. Here’s the best choices to make during your conversation with her:

Nora's dialogue Best response for Swann
“What else are you filming for your movie? Did I look good?” “You look great on camera!”
“You should move to LA after school. If you’re serious about it.” “How about we make our own movie?”
“Do you have a boyfriend?” “A boyfriend? Gross!”
“If I were a guy… I’d kiss you.” “You’d kiss me!?”

Moment 2: Phone A Friend

In scene 14, you’ll have the option to call any of the girls for a chat. If you want to grow closer to Nora, it goes without saying that you should call her. Here’s how the conversation should go:

Nora's dialogue Best response for Swann
“Swann! I knew you’d call me!” “Hey!”

“Our music video’s gonna be all that for real!” “Thanks to you!”
“Dude, you’re meeting up with us at the cabin later, right?! You can’t abandon me!” “I can’t wait to see you!”
“Can I tell you? Please!” “Autumn told you a secret?”
“Don’t tell her I told you…” “I won’t tell.”
“Hey, let’s meet up before we go to the cabin!” “Yeah, let’s walk together.”
“OK - bye, babe! See you later!” “Not if I see you first!”

Moment 3: Nora Malakian, 1995

During scene 17, you’ll get a chance to sit down and interview Nora on tape. This is a pivotal point, and your choices during this conversation are perhaps most important to the result.

Here’s how to respond to Nora during this interview:

Nora's dialogue Best response for Swann
“Pick a charm!” “Lapis Lazuli’s my favorite!”
“This is gonna look so cute on you!” “Thank you…”
“She’s so not my mom.” “So is Linda like a wicked stepmother?”
“My real mom’s so not like that. She’s not like a housewife.” “I wish I could meet your mom…”

Moment 4: Double Dare

This moment relies on choices made both in 1995 and 2022, and you’ll need to have already grown closer to Nora for this to work. During the game of truth or dare inside the cabin, you’ll return to 2022 and be able to select one of three options. How to romance Autumn in 1995

Autumn is the skater girl of the group and the bassist of the Bloom & Rage band. She is confident in herself, and not afraid to stand up for her friends. If you want to grow closer to Autumn, here’s how.

Moment 1: The First Night

After her keys have been thrown into the park by Corey, interact with the tunnel and Autumn will ask you to go with her, then you’ll get a moment alone with her. Here’s how the conversation should go for maximum bonding:

Autumn's dialogue Best response for Swann
“Dude, if I lose my job over this…” “I wish I could have stopped him…”
“It’s, like, someone’s stuff…” “This looks like a movie set!”
“I love dogs!” “I love all critters!”
“I’m so stressed. I gotta chill.” “Would a hug help?”
“What was that?” “Probably a raccoon.”

Moment 2: Phone A Friend

When you get the chance to call one of the girls, if you want to build a relationship with Autumn then dial 285-555-5791 and have the following chat:

Autumn's dialogue Best response for Swann
“Dude! I was hoping you’d call!” “Hey!”
“I still can’t believe the power went out at Nora’s place.” “I was scared…”
“Our music video’s gonna be da bomb!” “Thanks to you!”
“Hey… I’m so excited to see you again later. You’re gonna kick it with us at the cabin, right?” “I can’t wait to see you!”
“By the way, there’s something I gotta tell you. It’s a secret, though…” “A Secret about Nora?”
“Promise you’ll take this to your grave.” “I promise.”
“Dean was there, he saw!” “That’s hilarious!”
“Walk with me to the cabin later?” “Yeah, let’s walk together.”
“Alright, gotta go!” “Bye, babe!”

Moment 3: Autumn Lockhart, 1995

Autumn’s interview actually comes pretty early on, directly after the scene where you find her keys. Here are the best choices to make during the conversation to get better acquainted with Autumn:

Autumn's dialogue Best response for Swann
“Are you rolling?” “What makes you happy?”
“Am I doing ok?” “You look so good on camera!”
“What? No way!” “You’re so pretty.”
“My dad was stationed there for a couple of years…” “What was it like being the new kid?”
“Nora’s the first person who really tried to get to know me.” “What kind of friend is Nora?”
“More like her babysitter…” “Is she like a sister to you?”
“We’re so not gonna be rock stars.” “What’s your wildest dream?”

Moment 4: Double Dare

Just like with Nora, you’ll need to set up the past by choosing the crush option in 2022. Once you’ve done that, you can have the following conversation with the group:

Autumn's Dialogue Best response for Swann
“Do you have a crush? Tell us his name!” “I have a crush on this skater…”
“Who? Me? Just kidding… Tell us more!” “I’ll tell you someday…”

How to romance Kat in 1995

Kat looks the youngest, but she acts the oldest. She is secretive about her home life, seems to hate her sister, and seems to be brimming with anger just below the surface. Here are the moments that matter with Kat if you want to build a relationship with her back in 1995:

Moment 1: The First Night

After you’ve found the keys at the top of the rocket ship slide, the girls will split up to find something they can throw. Kat will head off to the drain pipe. Interact with it to open up a moment of dialogue between you:

Kat's dialogue Best response for Swann
“Why was Dylan so pissed at you?” “She’s full of herself!”
“She always acts so slutty since they met…” “Sorry you’re related.”
“Corey got on my dad’s good side…” “Wanna crash at my place tonight?”

Moment 2: Phone A Friend

In scene 14, you can choose to dial Kat’s number and talk to her about the previous day, as well as what you plan to do at the cabin later that night. If you want to grow closer with her, here’s what you should say:

Kat's dialogue Best response for Swann
“Dude, I was hoping you’d call!” “Hey!”
“Watching our video last night was awesome! But my mom went totally ballistic when I got back…” “That power outage was crazy!”
“Our music video’s gonna be so sick!” “Thanks to you!”
“Can’t wait to see you later… At the cabin, right?” “I can’t wait to see you!”
“There’s something I gotta tell you, but it’s a secret…” “Nora told you a secret?”
“Walk with me later? I wanna talk.” “Yeah, let’s walk together.”
“Corey’s outside, I’m gonna throw a rock at him.” “Aim for his junk!”

Moment 3: Kat(rhyn) Mikaelsen, 1995

The third and final focused interview takes place with Kat in scene 23, right before you set off for the concert at the Blue Spruce. Here’s the best way to get through the interview if you want to win Kat’s affections:

Kat's dialogue Best response for Swann
“We should’ve shot this at the Abyss!” “It’ll be cool, promise!”
“Winter is my favorite season… Blue is my favorite color.” “Let’s talk about music.”
“Her name is Claire. She mails them to me sometimes.” “We should totally make a Bloom & Rage zine.”
“I guess… I felt alone a lot. Unless I was with Gertie.” “Who’s Gertie?”
“Guys like my dad would probably just leave her to die.” “Did you take her home?”

Moment 4: Double Dare

As you might expect by now, to get to the conversation that boosts your relationship with Kat, you’ll need to set up the game of truth and dare by selecting the crush option in 2022. Once you’ve done that, here’s how the conversation should go:

Kat's dialogue Best response for Swann
“Do you have a crush? Tell us his name!” “I have a crush on this writer…”
“Is it me? Just kidding.” “I’ll tell you someday…”

How to reconnect with the girls in 2022

Depending on who you grew closer with in 1995, you’ll stand a higher chance of reconnecting with them when you’re reunited in 2022. As it stands, Bloom & Rage Tape 1 has limited chances for open dialogue in 2022, but there are certain key things you can do to increase your final standings with both Nora and Autumn.

Just as you did in 1995, make sure to pay attention to their mood in 2022. Support their choices and bend accordingly. For instance, Nora is hesitant to discuss the package, so encourage Autumn to put it off a while longer. If you’d rather get closer to Autumn, go against Nora’s hesitance and pressure the conversation to move on.

You can also use information gathered in 1995 to help in 2022. When it comes to getting a drink for Autumn, you have the option to get her a rum and coke, remembering that she said she liked them back in 1995.

There will be more moments, both in 1995 and 2022, to build your relationships with all the girls once Tape 2 is released on April 15, but getting ahead with your chosen friend now is a good way to make sure the game moves on how you’d like it to.
