I’m looking for some advice about the cd shelves I’m building.
I’m planning to build some shelves for my CD collection, I’ll try my best to explain what the set-up is. Each piece plywood shelf is going to be 55 3/16” long x 6” wide. I worked out that I could fit approximately 141 jewel cases on each shelf (.39” x 141 = 54.9”) and I figure the average weight of a single cd is about 97-98 grams, that would mean the shelf will be holding roughly 30 lbs. The shelves will be held up by three shelf standards and 6” shelf brackets. I trying to decide what thickness the shelves should be. I doesn’t sound like 30 lbs. is a lot of weight, but over time it could cause some sagging. What thickness would work the best for my project? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks! submitted by /u/Mr-Orange-Pants [link] [comments]
