Is it normal to have a lawyer with you in mediation or an amicable divorce?
I am going into a divorce and we are being as pleasant as possible. I do mot want to fleece him, but I meed to make sure I ca. live and also still receive my medical care and not have cut rate medical care. I am permanently disabled, and cannot just go out and get a job sitting, walking or standing. But I need to be able to live comfortably and safely. He can afford to help me do this. I do receive disability, but it definitely not cover a secondary, or medications or procedures I will need going forward. We have split the majority of our monies assets. But still to be decided are the alimony and cost of living for me. The potential of medicare going away and money enough to care for myself and live and hopefully save some money. I am not asking for anymore than I need. I am not like that. But because he does not think he will not be forking over half his salary, I wanted to know, is it a good thing or a bad thing to retain a lawyer to make sure I have the money I need. submitted by /u/Fit-Cartoonist-6973 [link] [comments]
