Is Naomi Campbell Banned From the Met Gala? She Could Be From Thanks to This Feud

As fashion enthusiasts prepare to scrutinize fashion's biggest night, there's one fashion icon who'll be missing from the 2025 Met Gala. Naomi Campbell reportedly might not be making an appearance amid rumors that Anna Wintour removed her from the guest list after a tense interaction in 2024.

The Met Gala isn't the Met Gala without the British model's attendance, as she's known to stun on the carpet and sometimes defy Wintour's themes year after year by wearing designs that interpret the theme a bit differently. According to reporting from The Sun, a British tabloid newspaper, Campbell wasn't listed in the highly coveted guest list for the prestigious event after an alleged fallout at the 17th Annual Harlem's Fashion Row and Style Awards in September 2024. Wintour was asked to present the Fashion Icon Award to Campbell that evening, however, Vogue's editor-in-chief left the ceremony after addressing the British model's tardiness.

"I am a very punctual person, and I have the honour of presenting tonight to someone who is often late," Wintour said during the award show. Following her exit, Samira Nasr, Harper's Bazaar  editor-in-chief, stepped in to present the award to the fashion icon when she eventually arrived. Campbell didn't hold back from taking a jab at Wintour's absence, and during her acceptance speech, she said, "It wasn't my choice to have the other lady, I'd much rather have this one."

Campbell made her Met Gala debut in 1990 wearing a silver gown designed by Gianni Versace and has since graced the Met steps 17 times. Her absence at this year's Met Gala shouldn't come as a surprise after the model revealed the 2024 Met Gala would be her last during a behind-the-scenes look at her gown. "This is my last Met," she said. "I can't, I'm too old. It's too much for me. The anxiety. I don't know what number this is for me, I think it could be number 20 or 21. Can you imagine?"

As the time nears for the event to begin, the world will have to wait and see if Campbell does or does not attend this year's Met Gala, which is centered around a theme celebrating Black dandyism with a dress code revolving around tailored fashion.
