Following last year’s inescapable hit “Espresso,” Carpenter is back with “Manchild,” out this Thursday at 8 p.m. Eastern Time, and it’s already stirring up speculation. In a not-so-subtle Instagram caption, the pop star teased, “this one’s about you!!” It's a cheeky line many fans believe is aimed at her ex-boyfriend Barry Keoghan.

The pair reportedly split in December of 2024, amid unconfirmed rumors that Keoghan had cheated. While the Saltburn actor issued a vague statement urging fans to stop the hate, he never denied the allegations. But with a song title like “Manchild,” Carpenter might be ready to speak now—or sing, rather. Could this single confirm what fans have long suspected?

Adding more fuel to the fire is the exclusive vinyl edition, which includes a second track titled “inside of your head when you've just won an argument with a man.” If “Manchild” is the summer anthem, this B-side might be the post-breakup victory lap we didn’t know we needed.
