Material for custom drying rack dowels

We are remodeling our laundry room / mudroom combo. We are building custom drying racks so they can look built in. I have a question on what material I could use for the dowels/rods that is NOT wood. We currently hang a lot of our laundry on an Ikea clothes drying rack. This rack has very thin rods/dowels coated with a type of plastic. This material is ideal because it won’t rot and won’t transfer any paint/stain etc. onto our clothes. I am unsure what I should even be searching for? Acrylic rods? I’ve seen copolymer rods, polypropylene rods but I don’t know if that’s a suitable material. The rods don’t have to be completely stiff, but obviously firm enough to hold wet jeans, sweatshirts. I have considered dismantling the drying rack we have - snipping off the rods and installing them into the custom frame we will use - but I need about 40” for each rod, and sadly mine are too short. Any advice of what material I could use? submitted by /u/aKillerQueeeeen [link] [comments]
