Mortal Kombat 1 developer NetherRealm Studios offered an extended look at the game’s next kombatant, the Terminator T-1000, in a new trailer on Tuesday. And while that gameplay shows that NetherRealm has gone to great lengths to capture the intimidating and fluid combat style of Robert Patrick’s Terminator, the character is simply shown up by upcoming Kameo Fighter Madam Bo, who absolutely slaps the shit out of Shang Tsung with her slipper.
Madam Bo goes full raging grandma mode on Shang in a peek at her Fatal Blow, snatching by the sorcerer by the ear, calmly removing her house shoes, and liberating half of her target’s teeth with a power slap. Shang Tsung is then thrice impaled by the T-1000, but the slipper beating is clearly the worst of it.
That said, the T-1000 is both incredibly authentic to its cinematic counterpart and smartly adapted for Mortal Kombat 1 gameplay. We see many moves lifted from Terminator 2: Judgment Day, including the liquid metal assassin performing some very familiar skewer attacks and borrowing a few moves from Killer Instinct’s Glacius. The T-1000 also borrows Kabal’s signature hook blades, having clearly confronted him in the past — or is it in the future…?
We also get a look at the T-1000’s Animality: He transforms into the K-9000, a vicious police dog who mauls poor Johnny Cage.
The T-1000 and Madam Bo are coming to Mortal Kombat 1 on March 18 for owners of the game’s Khaos Reigns expansion. The Terminator and Bo will be available for purchase separately on March 25. The T-1000 is the final character to be released as part of the MK1 expansion, and NetherRealm has not announced plans for additional characters.
