Motor oil removal from wood

I’m currently clearing out an old mechanic pit in the garage to use for storage. It’s covered by a load of wooden beams and boards, many of which are completely soaked through with motor oil. Some of the oil seems dusty. Some beams look like they’ve even developed a crust - not sure if this is also oil. (I was thinking of pressure washing this off?) I’m looking to eventually paint all the beams so they are clean to touch and minimise the odour that is filling the pit when it’s boarded over. Does anyone have any tips for cleaning the wood, reducing the smell and helping the paint stick to the wood? Also, which paint would be best? submitted by /u/Jikg [link] [comments]
