Gaming start-up Playtron has unveiled plans to launch a stablecoin ‘Game Dollar’, designed for in-game use across its GameOS ecosystem.
Announced live at the Sui Basecamp event in Dubai, the Game Dollar will roll out in Q4 2025 and integrate tightly with Playtron’s Linux-based GameOS and the upcoming SuiPlay0X1 handheld console.
Playtron Sets to Merge Web3 Finance with Gaming Utility
Game Dollar is designed for seamless purchases, subscriptions, and rewards within Playtron’s ecosystem.
The stablecoin will also power Playtron Select, the company’s digital storefront. Playtron likened the token’s utility to a Starbucks wallet system, allowing programmable spending behaviour, such as limiting transactions to specific use cases.
The M0 Foundation, which powers the token, claims short-term US Treasuries back the Game Dollar. The foundation will use M0’s payment APIs to support developers, publishers and gamers.
Initially exclusive to the Sui blockchain, the stablecoin aims to bridge traditional financial stability with Web3 gaming.
SuiPlay0X1 Adds to the Sui Blockchain Momentum in Web3 Gaming
Shipping by September, the SuiPlay0X1 handheld console aims to rival the Steam Deck.
Retailing at $599, the device will feature an AMD Ryzen 7 7840U CPU, AMD 780M GPU, and 512GB SSD, supporting PC and blockchain games through GameOS.
Sui has been slowly gaining traction in Web3 gaming, highlighted by Sui 8192’s 22m average daily transactions in July 2023.
According to CoinGecko, daily transactions grew 32.5x in 2024, signalling rising developer and user adoption.
The platform continues expanding through partnerships with studios like Lucky Kat (Panzerdogs), Blowfish (DARKTIMES), and XOCIETY.
In esports, Team Liquid launched a fan platform, MyBlue, on Sui, offering digital and physical rewards.
Additionally, on April 30th, ONE Championship debuted ONE Fight Arena, cementing Sui as its official blockchain partner.
