Question about proper method for French Drain - adding gravel beneath fabric inside of trench or not?
Hi all - I'm installing a portion of french drain around my house this summer. My question remains - the section of drain that I've planned will be permeable fabric (non woven geotextile) wrapped around perforated pipe and drain rock. My question is whether there should be rock beneath the fabric at the bottom of the trench? I've seen two schools of thought, one that crushed rock would prevent soil from clogging the fabric from beneath and another that rock would prevent water from accessing the holes in the PVC pipe that are pointed downwards.
