Running a power cord into the house for plug in?

I have a new sprinkler controller that I plan to mount outside, however there is no outlet to plug it into within easy access... Except in the indoor wal.directly behind where it will be mounted. I had the idea to simply drill a hole through my wall and plug the unit in the inside outlet instead of running an electrical box or hard wiring it in. Is that crazy? I'm trying to find info on doing something like this but most of what I'm finding is talking about adding an electrical outlet outdoors, which i'd prefer to avoid if possible in this situation. I asked chat gpt, and it said it was a good idea, but I can't verify anything it told me, my Google fu is failing me. If I do this, are there any tips/tricks to help it go better? submitted by /u/mistersender [link] [comments]
