Brandon Maxwell kicked off New York Fashion Week with a collection that felt deeply personal yet universally resonant. Marking nearly a decade in the industry, the Fall/Winter 2025 show was a display of unique craftsmanship but also a heartfelt reflection of his transformative journey through grief and growth.

“As I walk toward my tenth year, I do so with a fighting spirit and a renewed commitment to myself,” the designer shared in his show notes. This spirit was woven into every piece, creating a lineup that felt strong and resilient. 

The runway showcased an array of soft and silky leathers that brought a luxurious texture to the forefront of the collection. Sweaters were styled with an effortless feeling, paired with big and bold silhouettes that offered a more avant-garde approach to the season. Menswear-inspired belted trousers and button-downs made out to be a fan favorite, blending strength with sophistication. Outerwear also emerged as a standout, with maxi coats that featured attached scarves as a favorite.

“The intent of this collection mirrors this sentiment and represents the end of an incredibly transformative, years-long journey in my life and work,” Maxwell continued. “On I go now, with gratitude for what has been, the things that built me and almost broke me.” This vulnerability translated into designs that were both grounded and aspirational, reflecting a balance between humility and confidence. In a season where fashion often grapples with fleeting trends, Maxwell’s collection stood out for its timeless charm, authenticity, and emotional depth.
