Seiko Presents ‘Incredibly Specialized Watch Exhibition 2’
Following the success of the first edition in 2024, Seiko has presented a new exhibit at Harajuku’s Seiko Seed location. Aptly named Incredibly Specialized Watch Exhibition 2, the new event will spotlight new creations by six in-house designers, each presenting incredibly specialized watches for specific users such as DJs, ninjas as well as fictional characters like Santa Claus and vampires. The Specialized Watch for Club DJs captivates the audience with its unique design that incorporates the “infinity mirror” technique, creating the illusion of endless space. Designed to transform dynamically under black light, the watch features a dial that seamlessly combines Lumibrite and fluorescent paint, displaying the time from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m.The Ninja Stealth Watch is crafted for stealth, allowing time-telling without a glance. Designed with a sliding cover and tactile hands and hour markers, it enables discreet time reading in complete darkness. Its accompanying deer leather strap draws inspiration from Japanese archery gloves and can be adjusted to fit various arm sizes.Designed for those with nocturnal lifestyles, the Vampire-Exclusive Watch spotlights a dial that only displays time between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. The watch also features a rotating bezel with colored stones, representing the time passed since the last blood-sucking and obscures daytime hours with semi-transparent ink to avoid confusion. As for the Egg-Boiling Watch for Boiled Egg Lovers, the piece is conceptualized to help users achieve the perfect soft-boiled or hard-boiled eggs. It features a case made from a unique plastic material containing 10% eggshell, a gradient dial and an eco-friendly strap that’s also derived from eggs.Featuring Arabic numerals from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., the Santa Claus' Specialized Watch is specially designed to help him deliver presents at night. The watch's soft, rounded curves reflect Santa's gentle presence, while the star-shaped GMT hand allows him to check the time across multiple time zones.Last but not least, the Watch for Girls in Love is designed to heighten excitement by incorporating a "flower fortune-telling" function, where the disc hand rotates to reveal "LOVE me" or "LOVE me NOT." The hand features a delicate flower petal design while the domed glass refracts light to keep secret feelings hidden. This cute and thoughtful design aims to bring joy and encouragement to young girls in love, with a pink leather strap as a delightful secret known only to the wearer. Each watch reflects the designers' creativity and the company's commitment to innovation, pushing the boundaries of traditional watchmaking. The exhibition is open until February 16 with free admission.
