Sliding cabinet doors that mimic old factory windows

My wife are building a garage in our back yard with a warehouse/industrial style and would like to do a large (22' x 4') wall of hanging storage cabinets that looks like a wall of old factory windows (see attached image) but is actually cabinets with sliding doors. We have spent 30+ hours researching how to accomplish this, but we keep striking out. Two questions where we would really appreciate your help: How can we get the glass (or acrylic or polycarbonate or other material) to have the look of old factory windows, with the imperfections and colors and translucency? We've talked to countless salvage dealers, and it seems no one keeps this style glass around, so we are likely going to need to start with plain materials (maybe including chicken wire) and add the colors and imperfections ourselves. How can we light the doors to achieve a diffuse effect? We could light the cabinets with LED strips near the doors, but those may light the doors unevenly. DIY fake windows use flat LED panels behind them, but in this application any panel-type lights would have to slide with the doors. Thanks in advance!
