Sliding glass door replacement.

I have a delimma. My weed eater kicked up a small rock the other day, and shattered the glass in my sliding glass door (the stationary side, and only one layer of the double paned glass). It still has one pane of glass, and it still works. We've cleaned up the broken glass as well. My wife and I have debated replacing the door with a standard door since the day we bought the house. Nothing complex or ornate. Just a simple pre hung door, and wed obviously need side panels of some kind to fill out the full width of the current frame, or I'd need to extend the wall (panels would look nicer, we think). I have some pretty decent knowledge, and experience working with my hands on projects like this, but I've never actually hung a door in the frame. The door is on the back of the house, from the kitchen. The house is a slab foundation, and the kitchen is linoleum glued directly to the foundation. There is a small concrete landing on the outside of the door as well, but it's only in front of the walk through side of the door, and not the stationary side. Can this be done without hiring someone, and with parts from somewhere like Habitat for Humanity ReStore? submitted by /u/amberoze [link] [comments]
