The Snapdragon Pro Series (SPS) Season 6 APAC Mobile Challenge recorded over 1m peak viewership, breaking the competition’s previous viewership record.
Taking place at the Persada Johor International Convention Centre in Johor, Malaysia, the Grand Finals between ONIC (Indonesia) and ONIC Philippines saw a total of 1.16m people tune in to watch the match online, according to data platform Esports Charts.
The match shattered the previous peak record from last year’s edition, which garnered 888,710 viewers. In addition to the higher numbers, the average viewership also greatly increased, reaching close to 370,000. Despite the shorter airtime of nearly five hours, there were more than 4m hours watched compared to the Snapdragon Pro Series (SPS) Season 5 APAC Mobile Challenge.
This year, there were two more series that surpassed the 1m threshold. The first was between ONIC and Team Liquid Indonesia (1m), and the other was the playoff match between ONIC Philippines and RRQ Hoshi, which recorded 1.12m.
According to data provided by Esports Charts, the Indonesian audience was a main contributing factor to the new record, with over 750,000 people tuning it. YouTube and TikTok Live were the most-watched streaming channels, with 669,123 and 412,020 peak viewers, respectively.
The APAC region continues to show its dominance in mobile esports however, there is still a stark contrast in audience interest between APAC and other regions. For example, the SPS Season 6 EMEA Challenge Finals only recorded 4,369 peak viewers, according to Esports Charts, highlighting the significant gap in viewership between APAC and Western markets.
With a dominant win over its sister team, ONIC Philippines took home the $65,000 (~£51,583) prize pool and qualification to the ESL Snapdragon Pro Series: Mobile Masters 2025 in Jakarta later this April. Runner-up ONIC won $32,000 (~£25,394).
“It feels good to come out on top in the all-ONIC Grand Final,” said Rafael Sanchez, Country Manager of ONIC Philippines. “It’s what the fans wanted to see and we’re happy to be able to put on a show for them. We look forward to more wins as a team and want to thank the fans for their warm reception and support throughout the tournament.”
